Life is Very Good

Bucky's dad sent some photos of Bucky at Venice Dog Beach in Florida.

Yes, it does look like our young friend really has a tough life.

Siiiigh.

Bucky LOVES to go swimming.

And he also loves getting very sandy.

But with his silky coat it will all fall out easily.... in the car! Yes, the joys of having a water dog.

I recognize Bucky's big happy smile and can see the love he feels as he leans happily into his dad.

Bucky's face and body language say it all: "Life is very good!"

Now that's a happy face!

Bucky's dad sent me this photo after one of their recent walks.

Bucky looks hot, tired and happy with a big golden smile on his face.

Bucky's dad tells me that Bucky is now an expert car rider - after their walks Bucky runs to the car and waits to hitch-hike a ride home. Apparently Bucky is also a Back Seat Driver, with nose prints on both sides of the windows.

That is a big change from the days when he would frog-dog in the parking lot, ANY parking lot, and refuse to get into the car, ANY car.

Bucky's New Life

The three month waiting period is (finally) over and I spoke to Bucky's new dad, Mark.

Bucky is a lucky dog!

His new dad thinks he is "absolutely wonderful - smart, well behaved and very affectionate."

He said he and Bucky bonded quickly - with Bucky by his side 24/7.

Bucky gets lots of exercise walking about an hour a day. He loves to run full tilt in the parks with his new friends. (Bucky always loved to be chased.)

Bucky also has a swimming pool! He must be thrilled - as he LOVES to swim.
And Bucky has a new girlfriend. (How could anyone resist him?)

His girlfriend lives about a quarter mile away, is mixed breed (sort of like a whippet or small greyhound) and is about half his size. That little Bucky..... I sure hope he shares sticks and toys with her. However, I have no illusions that he would share treats with her.

I have sent Mark the link to the blog. Hopefully he will enjoy seeing Bucky's adventures with us during his first year.

HINT: Hopefully Mark will take lots of photos and send updates of their adventures together....

FEELING: Happy and relieved that Bucky is well loved and appreciated.

Three Months

The clock has been ticking. Waiting requires p-a-t-i-e-n-c-e. It is a virtue that I have to work hard on. But having said that, I don't think I am alone with that struggle.

Two weeks ago I sent an email inquiring about Bucky and when we could have contact with his new Forever Person/Family. I wanted to be ready at the gate.

I was told I need to wait until the full 3 months had elapsed. I was given good news though, that Bucky's family wanted to have contact with us. YEAH!

Today is exactly 3 months!

I have just fired off an email requesting what the next steps are.

P-a-t-i-e-n-c-e.
